As we gear up for this amazing event, I’ll be bringing you author interviews so you can get to know the attending authors in more detail! There are lots and lots of authors for you to discover, not to mention, hundreds if not thousands of books! Why not grab a cuppa and sit back and relax! All while hearing more about our writers and their writing lives, inspirations – and maybe even a secret or two!
What is the first thing people should know about you?
I’m friendly, but incredibly nervous!
Tell me which genre or trope you are most well-known for writing.
Spicy paranormal romance with alphas and strong heroines.
What is one thing people don’t know about you?
I’m a mathematics teacher – not an English one.
Name a book you’ve written that you wish more people had read, and why.
Whispers of the Dead. I love these characters, so much of my own life is in that book. A set of crazy aunts, a suspicious, possessive male. Maybe I get a little witchy at Halloween too…
What is your favourite book (not your own), and why?
Angel’s Blood – Nalini Singh. This has everything I love, a strong heroine, a broody morally grey hero, and a good mystery plot.
Was there a book you wrote that broke you and made you feel like you’d never write again?
Seducing Hope was my first book, it took a monumental effort to get it out into the world. My readers and the support in the community are what had me coming back.
Are you one of those authors for whom music is EVERYTHING and without it you’d never write?
Yes! Playlists are my life! Every book I have written has one, inspired by the characters and the story.
Is your desk/writing space tidy or messy?
It starts off tidy, then as the day passes it descends into a mess. Chocolate, sweets, fizzy drinks, books, kindle, the dog… they all creep in during the day.
What is your advice to authors just starting out?
Stay true to what you enjoy reading. If you write what you love, your readers will find you, it just takes time and patience.
If you could live inside any fictional world, where would that be?
Harry Potter, without a doubt I need to be a teacher at Hogwarts – I think teaching potions.
When you’re as old as Gandalf the Grey, how many books do you think you might have written?
A hundred. That’s the dream. Also I’d like a conversation with Gandalf at that point to discuss life facts.
Who is your biggest cheerleader?
Without a doubt, my husband.
